was the rebel leader who launched the Haitian Revolution against French rule, ultimately defeating Napoleon’s armies.

Today, Haiti’s greatest struggle is for economic independence. To this end, Boukman Rhum promotes Haiti’s rich terroir and culture to develop employment and education in sugar cane communities.

Boukman Rhum is 100% distilled and bottled in Haiti by two local family-owned companies. Sugar cane is grown by a farmers' co-op in Croix-des-Bouquets,  bottle decorations are made by the Deux Mains co-op in Port-au-Prince.

The brand was launched in 2016 by two members of Haiti Futur non-profit who met 20 years ago: Adrian (drinks entrepreneur from Dublin) and Josette (Founder & President of Haiti Futur, from Camp Perrin, Haiti).

10% of profits are reinvested in education through Haiti Futur, a Haitian-led non-profit with branches in five countries. We also work with the Solidaridad.org non-profit to improve farmers' cane yields organically.
